back in Hanja . . . . . .

Back in Hanja with the "relationship booth "

and some interesting dialogue

thank you Canterel Caerndow

  ^ . ^

Canterel Caerndow: my pants basement?
Canterel Caerndow: uhuhuh you are silly
Canterel Caerndow: my pants do not have a basement
Canterel Caerndow: what is next?

Akira Keng: ya got some new pic Quendrida

Canterel Caerndow: look at this wonderful social commentary of second life
Canterel Caerndow: a fat couple are virtually attractive
Canterel Caerndow: Does it not strike you that the people of second life resemble balloons?
quendrida Skytower: lol
Canterel Caerndow: They are simply 2 dimensional manifolds in space
Canterel Caerndow: devoid of any life inside or outside
quendrida Skytower: no nothing inside lol
Canterel Caerndow: and to say that an avatar reflects the personality is like committing the intentional fallacy
Canterel Caerndow: We as players are looking in on our avatars from the third person
Canterel Caerndow: They are not us, they are merely a creation, a book we wrote
quendrida Skytower: only the actions poss resemble parts of the personality
quendrida Skytower: not the animations
Canterel Caerndow: So the question is, how do you impart a personal touch, and genuine realness to your avatar
quendrida Skytower: what we achieve or do in SL ?
Canterel Caerndow: perhaps, but that is more metaphysical
Canterel Caerndow: it cannot be directly observed
Polyhistor Serpente: canterel, take a picture of yourself and paste it on your avatars face
Canterel Caerndow: I will make an art exhibit, it will consist of avatar which are cut open by axes
Canterel Caerndow: and their corpse strewn on the floor
Canterel Caerndow: sculpture
Canterel Caerndow: and when people look inside the sculpture, they see it is completly hollow
Canterel Caerndow: with no blood
Canterel Caerndow: They are just layers! layers!
Canterel Caerndow: deception!
Canterel Caerndow: They are facades, layers of deception, skins are facades Canterel Caerndow: The materialism has taken over
Polyhistor Serpente: well, you know, secondlife was never ment to be real life, so i donno why it matters if avatars are not "real"
Canterel Caerndow: empty malls
Canterel Caerndow: the underlying irony is that people still want to make their avatars as real as possible
quendrida Skytower: its funny i look a little like my av
quendrida Skytower: but not very intentially
quendrida Skytower: more unconsciously
Canterel Caerndow: what could be the reason for that.. hrmmm
quendrida Skytower: cause i like who i am in RL
Canterel Caerndow: Well i can only speculate on general trends
quendrida Skytower: yes i need a sociologist to work
Canterel Caerndow: Yes but the art exhibit
Polyhistor Serpente: well I think its a bit more of a challange to make youre avatar real then um... not real i guess you could call it
Canterel Caerndow: i will have confetti pouring out of the disembodied hollow limbs to emphasize the silliness
quendrida Skytower: will this be in SL or RL
Canterel Caerndow: i have no idea yet
quendrida Skytower: i think the confetti too naff for RL
quendrida Skytower: ok for SL
Canterel Caerndow: and no one will think "Oh this is horrible and morbid" since there is something about avatars that make them look like barbie dolls and unreal

  1. I think she's wrong...all my avatars are 'me' to a certain degree, none of them look like me, but Sable, she's happy and content with her man and I couldn't conceive of cheating on him while I am her, Patience is me before life happened and beat down my free spirit, Slightly is the loner in me, content to watch the world at play....and all of them are reserved in that I very rarely join in the silliness, because in RL I don't let go of my control for long enough for it to happen......put them all together and you have me...a conflicting mass of ideals and morals. I didn't do it conciously, but it's true all the same.
